Louis Langrée is a highly respected French conductor renowned for his insightful interpretations and elegant style. Born in 1951, he began his career as Music Director of the Camerata de Versailles (1983-1989), gaining recognition for historically informed performances of French Baroque repertoire. He subsequently held positions with the Orchestre National de Lyon (1989-1995) and the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon (1999-2003).
Langrée is particularly celebrated for his deep understanding of French music – Debussy, Ravel, and Berlioz feature prominently in his discography – but his repertoire extends broadly to encompass German, Austrian, and Russian masters.
