Leo Genovese is a Canadian pianist and composer renowned for his deeply emotive and improvisational jazz style. Born in Montreal, he began formal piano training at age five and quickly distinguished himself as a prodigious talent. Genovese gained prominence as a long-standing member of the acclaimed trio of bassist Rémi-Jean LeBlanc and drummer Jim Doxas, releasing several albums under their collective name, including “Trio” (2007) and “Bloom” (2011).

He’s collaborated extensively with diverse artists like Ingrid Jensen, Ralph Alessi, and Jean Derome, showcasing his versatility. Genovese's solo work, notably albums like *Sketches* (2015) and *Marey* (2019), demonstrates a sophisticated harmonic language influenced by both post-bop traditions and contemporary classical music. He frequently incorporates prepared piano techniques into his performances, expanding the instrument's sonic palette.

A dedicated educator, Genovese holds a doctorate in contemporary improvised music from Université de Montréal and teaches at Concordia University. He has received numerous awards and grants supporting his artistic endeavors, cementing his position as a significant figure in Canadian jazz.
