Experience Leif Kaner-Lidström
Leif Kaner-Lidström (born 1964) is a Swedish multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer deeply rooted in the Nordic folk music tradition, yet consistently pushing its boundaries. Initially gaining recognition as a member of the influential Swedish folk rock group Gnarltick (1987-1995), known for their energetic interpretations of Scandinavian tunes utilizing bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy, and other traditional instruments, Kaner-Lidström established himself as a virtuoso performer.
Following Gnarltick's dissolution, he embarked on a prolific solo career marked by explorations into ambient soundscapes and experimental folk. He’s released numerous albums under his own name, including critically acclaimed works like *Sömnens Väktare* (2007) and *Väv av silvertrådar* (2014), often incorporating field recordings and unconventional instrumentation alongside traditional nyckelharpa playing.
Kaner-Lidström has collaborated extensively with artists across genres, including Dead Can Dance’s Brendan Perry and Swedish singer Sofia Karlsson.
