Lee Oskar is an American musician best known as the harmonica player and founding member of the band War. Born in Seattle, Washington in 1948, Oskar’s diverse musical background – encompassing blues, jazz, rock, and Latin influences – profoundly shaped War’s signature sound. He joined War in 1969, contributing significantly to their breakthrough albums like *The World Is a Ghetto* (1972) and *All Day Music* (1971), featuring iconic tracks like "Cisco Kid" and "Low Rider," where his instantly recognizable harmonica riffs are central.

Beyond War, Oskar has maintained a prolific solo career since the 1980s, releasing numerous albums showcasing his instrumental prowess and exploring various genres including smooth jazz and world music. Notably, he developed the Lee Oskar Harmonicas – highly respected diatonic harmonicas favored by professional players for their airtightness, responsiveness, and tonal qualities. He continues to tour and perform globally with both his solo band, Lee Oskar & Friends, and occasionally reunites with various iterations of War.
