Lantz Lazwell & the Vibe Tribe emerged from the burgeoning Washington D.C. go-go scene of the early 1990s, quickly becoming pivotal in fusing traditional go-go rhythms with elements of jazz, funk, and hip-hop. Led by percussionist and bandleader Lantz Lazwell (son of legendary bassist William “Bill” Laswell), the group distinguished itself through extended instrumental jams and a focus on live performance energy.

Their self-titled debut album (1993) on Profile Records garnered critical acclaim for its innovative sound and featured the charting single "737," a go-go anthem still recognized today. The Vibe Tribe’s music became synonymous with D.C.’s vibrant nightlife, regularly performing at iconic venues like the 9:30 Club.
