Krzysztof Ścierański (born 1952 in Poznań, Poland) is a highly respected Polish jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. He began his professional career in the late 1970s, quickly gaining recognition for his sophisticated harmonic language and lyrical improvisations. A graduate of the Academy of Music in Poznań, Ścierański initially collaborated with prominent figures like Janusz Muniak and Wojciech Grochal.

His stylistic foundation lies firmly within post-bop and modal jazz, though he frequently incorporates elements of classical music – particularly Chopin – and Polish folk melodies into his compositions. He’s known for a delicate touch and introspective playing style, often prioritizing atmosphere over virtuosic display.

Ścierański has released numerous albums as a leader, including critically acclaimed works like “Focus” (1988) and “Reflections” (1995). He’s also a prolific arranger, working extensively with Polish Radio orchestras and vocalists like Ewa Bem.
