Kristina Barta is a Hungarian-American vocalist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist renowned for her innovative blend of jazz vocals, contemporary classical, and electronic music. Born in Budapest and based in New York City, Barta’s career gained momentum after graduating from the Manhattan School of Music. She’s recognized for her extended vocal techniques – looping, layering, and processing her voice to create richly textured soundscapes.

Her debut album, *Northern Lights*, released in 2017, garnered critical acclaim for its atmospheric quality and unique approach to vocal performance. Subsequent releases like *Heavier Than Air* (2020) and *Brittle Gardens* (2023) further solidified her distinct style, exploring themes of memory, nature, and the human condition.

Barta frequently performs solo utilizing live looping and effects processing, but also collaborates with diverse artists across genres. She has received support from organizations like New Music USA and has presented work at venues including The Stone and Roulette. Her compositions often incorporate field recordings and found sounds alongside her vocal explorations, creating immersive sonic experiences. She is currently a faculty member at New York University.
