Kremerata Baltica, founded in 1997 by violinist Gidon Kremer, is a chamber orchestra comprised of some of the most gifted young musicians from the Baltic states – Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Emerging from a search for exceptionally talented artists across the region, Kremer envisioned an ensemble embodying both virtuosity and a distinctive sonic identity.

The orchestra quickly gained international recognition for its dynamic performances and innovative repertoire, actively commissioning new works alongside interpretations of established classics. Their style isn’t confined to a single period; they move fluidly between Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and contemporary music, infused with a characteristic Baltic melancholy and expressive phrasing.

Kremerata Baltica has recorded extensively on ECM New Series, receiving accolades including the Diapason d'Or and Gramophone Editor's Choice awards. Notable collaborations include projects with composers like Arvo Pärt, Alfred Schnittke, and Astor Piazzolla. Beyond concert halls, the ensemble actively promotes musical education within the Baltic region, cementing its role as a cultural ambassador and continually fostering emerging talent. They continue to tour globally, maintaining a prestigious position in the international chamber orchestra landscape.
