Keepers of the Flame are a highly respected, long-running traditional heavy metal band originating from the New Jersey/New York area, formed in 1981. Initially gaining traction within the US metal underground, they are considered pivotal figures in the early American power metal scene, predating and influencing many later bands. Their sound is characterized by soaring vocals (primarily delivered by founding member Chris Cavallaro), dual guitar harmonies heavily influenced by Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, and a strong emphasis on melodic songwriting alongside powerful riffs.

The band released their debut album, *Keepers of the Flame*, independently in 1984, achieving cult status and consistent reprinting over decades. Despite numerous lineup changes throughout their history, they maintained a dedicated fanbase through relentless touring and continued recording. A significant resurgence occurred with the 2017 release of *Breaking the Chains*, their first studio album in 33 years, receiving positive reviews from metal publications like BraveWords & Blurring Reality. They continue to perform live and record new material, solidifying their legacy as enduring champions of classic heavy metal. Their influence can be heard in contemporary bands carrying the torch of traditional metal styles.
