Katya Apekisheva is a critically acclaimed Russian-British pianist renowned for her deeply insightful and poetic interpretations of Romantic and 20th/21st-century repertoire. Born in Moscow, she received her early training at the Moscow Central Music School before continuing studies at the Royal College of Music with Dimitri Alexeev and Imogen Cooper, winning the RCM’s Gold Medal in 2006.

Apekisheva’s career has spanned major international concert halls including Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall (Zankel Hall), and Konzerthaus Berlin. She is particularly celebrated for her complete cycles of Chopin's Mazurkas and Preludes, recordings which garnered widespread praise for their nuanced phrasing and emotional depth – the Mazurkas recording winning a Gramophone Editor’s Choice award in 2018.

Beyond solo performances, Apekisheva is a dedicated chamber musician, frequently collaborating with leading ensembles and musicians. She founded the Trio Modigliani with violinist Pieter Schoeman and cellist Daniel Müller-Schott in 2003, a highly respected ensemble known for its refined sound and compelling performances.
