Katharine Dain is a highly respected jazz vocalist and educator, renowned for her impeccable intonation, sophisticated harmonic sense, and deeply emotive interpretations. Emerging in the late 1990s, Dain quickly established herself on the New York City jazz scene after graduating from William Paterson University’s Jazz Performance program. She’s notably collaborated with luminaries like Clark Terry, Rufus Reid, and Kenny Barron, appearing on their recordings and at prestigious venues including the Blue Note and Birdland.

Dain's style blends traditional jazz vocalism with modern sensibilities, often featuring intricate scat singing and nuanced phrasing. She's particularly celebrated for her work interpreting the music of Joni Mitchell; her 2017 album *Familiar Feeling*, a complete songbook tribute to Mitchell, received widespread critical acclaim – *DownBeat* magazine awarding it four stars and praising its sensitivity.

Beyond performance, Dain is a dedicated educator, holding a faculty position at the Manhattan School of Music. She has also presented masterclasses globally.
