He has held principal conductorships with the Orchestre National de France, the Staatskapelle Weimar, and the MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig.
Frequently invited to leading opera houses globally – including La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, and Royal Opera House Covent Garden – Märkl is particularly celebrated for his interpretations of Richard Strauss, Verdi, and Puccini.
