Julie Saury is a French-American vocalist, composer, and improviser renowned for her distinctive vocal style blending jazz, contemporary classical, and world music influences. Born in Paris and based in New York City, Saury’s career began with classical training before evolving towards a highly personal approach to vocal expression. She’s celebrated for extended vocal techniques – utilizing multiphonics, circular singing, and exploring the full textural range of the human voice – often unaccompanied or with subtle electronic processing.
