Experience Juan Carlos Lomónaco

Juan Carlos Lomónaco is an Argentine classical guitarist renowned for his interpretations of both standard repertoire and lesser-known works, particularly those of South American composers. Born in Buenos Aires in 1966, Lomónaco began studying guitar at age eight and quickly distinguished himself, winning numerous national and international competitions including the Manuel Barrueco Award in 1984.

He studied with Abel Carlevaro, a pivotal figure in 20th-century guitar pedagogy, profoundly influencing Lomónaco’s technical precision and musical depth. His discography includes critically acclaimed recordings of works by Villa-Lobos, Brouwer, and Piazzolla alongside solo Bach transcriptions. Notably, his complete recordings of Heitor Villa-Lobos’s five preludes are considered definitive.

Lomónaco's style is characterized by a warm tone, meticulous phrasing, and a nuanced understanding of dynamics. He frequently tours internationally, performing as a soloist and with orchestras. Beyond performance, he is a dedicated educator holding professorships at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Buenos Aires and giving masterclasses worldwide.
