Joy Guidry is a highly respected American vocalist, arranger, and composer specializing in jazz, blues, and gospel traditions. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, her musical lineage is deeply rooted in the city’s vibrant musical heritage – she is the daughter of legendary trumpeter Ernest Guidry and sister to vocalist/pianist Germaine Bazzle.

Guidry’s career spans decades, beginning with early performances alongside her father and siblings. She gained prominence as a vocalist with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band from 1985-1994, touring internationally and contributing significantly to their revival during that period.

Her style blends powerful vocals with nuanced phrasing, drawing heavily on Bessie Smith and Mahalia Jackson. She's known for preserving traditional New Orleans jazz vocal techniques while adding her own distinctive interpretations.

Guidry has released several albums as a leader, including "Easy to Love" (1996) and “Street of the Lovers” (2002), receiving critical acclaim for her authentic sound.
