Josh Rawlings is a Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the frontman and primary songwriter for the critically acclaimed indie folk band, Current Swell. Formed in 2005 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Rawlings has been the driving force behind the band’s evolution from acoustic roots to a more expansive, dynamic sound incorporating elements of rock and Americana.

Rawlings' songwriting consistently explores themes of longing, travel, and introspection, delivered with a distinctive, emotive vocal style. He plays guitar, piano, and drums – often layering instruments on recordings himself – demonstrating a strong DIY ethos. Current Swell gained significant traction with their 2011 album *Long Time Ago*, featuring the popular single “Flying on Your Back.”

Beyond Current Swell, Rawlings has also contributed music to film and television. The band has toured extensively across North America and Europe, supporting artists like Matt Nathanson and Plain White T’s. Their most recent album, *Chasing This Feeling* (2023), debuted at #1 on the iTunes Canada Alternative Chart and further solidified their position within the independent music scene. Rawlings continues to write and perform actively with Current Swell.
