Emerging in the late 2000s, Cohen quickly gained attention within the creative jazz scene, initially performing extensively in the city’s downtown clubs alongside prominent figures like Anthony Braxton and Mark Feldman.

His discography, beginning with *The Skeptic & The Satellite* (2013), showcases a distinctive style blending elements of post-bop, free improvisation, and a lyrical sensibility often compared to Jim Hall and Bill Frisell. Cohen avoids overt virtuosity, prioritizing texture, space, and emotional resonance in his playing.
