Joseph Lin is an American violinist renowned for his insightful interpretations and versatile musicianship. He is First Violinist of the internationally acclaimed Borromeo String Quartet, a position he’s held since 1992, and a faculty member at Lawrence University’s Conservatory of Music. Lin’s career extends beyond the quartet; he frequently performs as a soloist and chamber musician across North America, Europe, and Asia.

He received his musical training at the Juilliard School with Dorothy DeLay and Robert Mann, and furthered his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music. The Borromeo Quartet, under Lin's leadership, has been praised for its technical precision and emotional depth, commissioning numerous works and maintaining a rigorous touring schedule.

Lin is noted for his commitment to contemporary music and innovative concert presentations. He has recorded extensively with the Borromeo Quartet for labels like Bridge Records, garnering critical acclaim for their interpretations of Beethoven, Bartók, and Shostakovich.
