Jonathan Pinson is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and vocalist known for his deeply emotive and genre-bending music. Originally gaining recognition as a founding member of the acclaimed neo-soul collective, Smoosh, Pinson began his musical journey at a young age, mastering piano, guitar, bass, and drums. While with Smoosh (2004-2011), he contributed significantly to their unique sound – a blend of jazz harmony, indie rock sensibilities, and soulful vocals – releasing three studio albums and touring extensively.
Following Smoosh’s hiatus, Pinson embarked on a solo career characterized by introspective songwriting and experimental arrangements. His work incorporates elements of electronic music, ambient soundscapes, and classical composition alongside his established jazz and soul foundations. He's released several EPs and albums including "You & Me" (2014) and “Moonlight Sonata” (2023), the latter being a fully realized interpretation of Beethoven’s iconic piece.
Pinson has collaborated with artists like Perfume Genius and regularly scores for film & television.
