John Wood is a British record producer, mixer, and engineer renowned for his work with artists like Radiohead, PJ Harvey, and Elbow. Beginning his career at Abbey Road Studios in the late 1980s as a staff engineer, he quickly gained recognition for his meticulous attention to detail and innovative techniques. He transitioned to independent production in the mid-1990s.

Wood’s style is characterized by a focus on capturing authentic performances and creating atmospheric soundscapes. He's known for utilizing both vintage and modern equipment, often employing unconventional microphone placements and processing to achieve unique sonic textures. He doesn’t impose a signature “sound” but rather aims to serve the artist's vision.

Notable productions include Radiohead’s *Amnesiac* and *Hail to the Thief*, PJ Harvey’s *Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea* (winning a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2001), and several critically acclaimed albums by Elbow, including *The Seldom Seen Kid* which won the Mercury Prize in 2008.
