Born in 1961, he gained prominence throughout the 1990s and 2000s as a sideman with influential artists like Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, and Gary Burton. Calderazzo’s distinct style blends post-bop sensibilities with a modern harmonic palette, often incorporating complex voicings and subtle dynamic variations.
He’s released numerous albums as a leader, beginning with *Voyage* (1994), showcasing his compositional talent and improvisational skills. Critically acclaimed recordings include *Incredible Voyage* (1998) and *Hymn* (2006), the latter earning him widespread recognition. A long-standing member of the Maria Schneider Orchestra since 1994, Calderazzo's contributions are integral to the ensemble’s Grammy-winning recordings, including *Concert in the Garden* (2004) and *Data Lords* (2020).
