Experience Jim Mullen

Jim Mullen is a renowned Scottish jazz guitarist celebrated for his distinctive blend of jazz, funk, and soul. Emerging prominently in the 1970s, Mullen gained recognition as the co-leader of the influential jazz-funk band Average White Band (AWB), where his smooth, melodic guitar lines became a defining element of their sound. His playing style is characterized by a warm tone, fluid phrasing, and a mastery of both rhythm and lead guitar techniques, making him a favorite among jazz fusion enthusiasts.

Throughout his prolific career, Jim Mullen has collaborated with numerous jazz legends, including saxophonist Michael Brecker and organist Brian Auger. He is also known for his work with the British jazz quartet Morrissey–Mullen, which he co-founded with saxophonist Dick Morrissey. The group’s innovative approach to blending jazz improvisation with funk grooves earned them critical acclaim and a dedicated following.

Mullen’s solo projects further showcase his versatility and commitment to evolving the jazz guitar tradition. Albums like "Jimjam" and "Catch My Drift" highlight his skillful compositions and improvisational prowess.
