Experience Jeneba Kanneh-Mason
Jeneba Kanneh-Mason is a British cellist rapidly gaining international recognition. Born in 2001, she is part of the exceptionally talented Kanneh-Mason family of musicians – her siblings Sheku, Isata, Braimah, and Konya also enjoy prominent musical careers. Jeneba studies at the Royal Academy of Music with Professor Sonia Wieder-Atherton, previously studying at Wells Cathedral School and with Thomas Carroll.
Her repertoire spans a wide range, from Bach’s Cello Suites to contemporary works. She debuted at the BBC Proms in 2022 performing Samuel Barber’s Cello Concerto, receiving critical acclaim for her expressive playing and technical skill. Jeneba won the Royal Philharmonic Society Young Instrumentalist Award in 2021 and was a finalist in the 2024 Cardiff Singer Competition.
Known for her warm tone and insightful interpretations, Jeneba frequently performs as a soloist with orchestras across the UK and Europe. She is an active chamber musician and enjoys collaborating with diverse artists.
