Jeff Hamilton is a highly respected jazz drummer renowned for his impeccable timekeeping, melodic approach, and extensive career spanning over five decades. Emerging in the 1970s, he first gained prominence with the Monty Alexander Trio, a collaboration lasting over three decades and establishing his reputation for swinging, interactive drumming.

Hamilton’s stylistic foundation lies in the post-bop tradition, heavily influenced by drummers like Max Roach and Art Blakey, yet distinctly his own. He's equally comfortable navigating hard-swinging mainstream jazz and more nuanced, lyrical settings. Beyond Alexander, he’s collaborated with a remarkable roster of artists including Diana Krall (as her drummer for 13 years), Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, and Barney Kessel.
