Jean-Pierre Como (born September 23, 1958) is a French composer, pianist, and orchestrator renowned for his prolific work in film scoring and popular music. Initially gaining recognition as a classically trained pianist, Como transitioned into arranging for numerous French artists throughout the 1980s, including Mylène Farmer and Céline Dion.
His breakthrough came with composing the score for *Nikita* (1990), directed by Luc Besson, earning him a César Award nomination for Best Original Film Music. He continued a fruitful collaboration with Besson, scoring films like *Léon: The Professional* (1994) – featuring the iconic “Everyday Is a New Day” co-written with Eric Presley – and *The Fifth Element* (1997).
Como’s style blends orchestral arrangements with electronic elements and often incorporates distinctive melodic themes. He’s known for creating atmospheric and emotionally resonant scores. Beyond film, he composed music for Vanessa Paradis's albums and contributed to the soundtrack of *Asterix & Obelix Take On Rome*.
