Experience Jan Vogler
Jan Vogler is a German-American cellist renowned for his versatile musicianship and commitment to bridging classical repertoire with diverse artistic collaborations. Born in Berlin, he received early training from his father, a violinist, and later studied with Rostropovich and Tortelier. Vogler established himself as a solo performer internationally, appearing with major orchestras including the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich.
He’s particularly celebrated for his interpretations of Bach’s cello suites, notably performing them globally as part of the “Bach 6 Cello Suites” project – a visually striking performance incorporating projections inspired by nature. This project led to a Grammy-nominated recording. Beyond traditional concert halls, Vogler actively seeks interdisciplinary work; he's collaborated extensively with actors like Bill Murray (performing their acclaimed show “New Worlds”) and dancers.
Vogler founded the Vogler Quartet in 1985, achieving international recognition for their interpretations of Beethoven and Schubert. He currently directs the Moritzburg Festival in Germany, showcasing chamber music in a historic setting. His playing is characterized by technical brilliance, emotional depth, and a willingness to explore new musical frontiers.
