Jan Petryka is a Polish-born, American-based jazz and classical guitarist renowned for his intricate fingerstyle technique and innovative compositions. Born in 1972, Petryka began playing guitar at age 12, quickly mastering both classical and jazz idioms. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London and Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating with honors.

Petryka’s style blends elements of Pat Metheny, Ralph Towner, and Bill Connors, characterized by harmonic sophistication, lyrical melodies, and extended-range techniques utilizing a custom 8-string guitar. He has released numerous critically acclaimed albums including “Animated Conversations” (2003), “Second Decade” (2013), and “Upward Spiral” (2018), consistently receiving positive reviews from publications like *Guitar Player* and *Vintage Guitar*.

Beyond his solo work, Petryka is an active session musician and educator, conducting workshops globally. He’s collaborated with artists across genres, demonstrating versatility beyond traditional jazz guitar. His compositions are frequently featured in film and television soundtracks. He currently resides in Los Angeles where he continues to perform and record.
