Experience Jam Session
Jam Session was a Canadian instrumental rock group prominent throughout the 1960s, originating from London, Ontario. Formed in 1964, the original lineup featured guitarist/keyboardist Jack London, bassist Don Elliott, drummer Brian Russell, and saxophonist/guitarist Pat Stapley. They initially gained local recognition performing covers before transitioning to primarily original material.
Their signature sound blended surf rock, instrumental pop, and garage rock influences, characterized by twangy guitar melodies and a driving rhythm section. Jam Session achieved national success with their 1966 single “Everybody’s Talkin’,” which reached #28 on the RPM national charts. They followed this with “Blue Moon,” another charting hit.
The band toured extensively across Canada supporting major acts like The Beach Boys and The Hollies. Despite releasing several subsequent singles and an LP *Between the Waves* (1967), they struggled to maintain mainstream momentum. Jam Session disbanded in 1968; however, their recordings have since become highly sought-after by collectors of Canadian garage rock and surf music. They are considered influential precursors to later Canadian power pop bands.
