Incognito is a pioneering British acid jazz band formed in 1979 by Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick and Paul “Tubbs” Williams. Renowned for their seamless fusion of jazz, funk, soul, and dance music, Incognito has played a vital role in shaping the acid jazz genre. Over four decades, the band has released more than a dozen studio albums, with notable works including *Tribes, Vibes & Scribes* (1992), *Positivity* (1993), and *100° and Rising* (1995). Their signature sound combines tight horn arrangements, groovy basslines, and soulful vocals—often featuring guest artists such as Maysa Leak and Jocelyn Brown.

Incognito’s career highlights include chart success in the UK and internationally, particularly with singles like “Always There,” which became an acid jazz anthem.
