Experience Hue & Cry
Hue & Cry are a Scottish pop duo formed in 1983, consisting of brothers Patrick and Gregory Kane. Emerging from the post-punk scene, they initially gained recognition with their debut single "Sad K Safari" in 1985, blending elements of jazz, soul, and pop with distinctive falsetto vocals. Their breakthrough album *Nexttime* (1987) achieved platinum status in the UK, featuring hits like “Labour of Love” and establishing their sophisticated songwriting.
Throughout the late 80s and early 90s, Hue & Cry released a string of successful albums including *Remote* (1988) and *Open Soul* (1990), consistently charting within the UK Top 20. Their music is characterized by complex arrangements, lyrical depth often exploring themes of social commentary and personal reflection, and a unique vocal interplay between the brothers.
Following a period of relative quiet, they returned with new material in the 2000s and continue to tour and record. Hue & Cry's influence can be seen in subsequent artists drawn to intelligent pop songwriting and genre fusion.
