Hot Rod (born Roderick Longstreet, July 17, 1979 – December 28, 2023) was an American hip-hop artist from Shreveport, Louisiana, renowned for his uniquely abstract and often humorous lyrical style. Emerging in the mid-2000s as part of the Lo-Fi Hip-Hop scene alongside artists like J Dilla and MF DOOM (whom he frequently cited as an influence), Hot Rod gained a cult following through numerous self-released mixtapes and albums hosted on platforms like MySpace and DatPiff.

His music is characterized by unconventional rhyme schemes, deliberately off-kilter flows, and a lo-fidelity aesthetic utilizing heavily sampled beats. Albums like *Hot Rod '07* and *Life in a Glass, House* are considered cornerstones of his discography. While never achieving mainstream success, Hot Rod’s influence resonated within underground hip-hop circles; he was highly respected for his originality and dedication to independent artistry. He collaborated with Odd Future members like Tyler, the Creator early in their careers, further broadening his reach.
