Hervé Niquet is a highly respected French conductor, particularly renowned for his expertise in Baroque and Classical repertoire, with a growing focus on French music of the 17th and 18th centuries. He founded Le Concert Spirituel in 1987, initially dedicated to rediscovering and performing sacred music by composers like Charpentier and Lully.

Niquet’s approach is characterized by meticulous research, historically informed performance practice, and a vibrant, dramatic interpretation style. He avoids stylistic rigidity, prioritizing musicality and emotional impact.
