Heidi Lehto is a Finnish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in 1978. She initially gained prominence as the vocalist for the Finnish gothic rock band Icon of Coil, joining in 1996 and contributing to their albums *Sheer Tyranny* (1997), *Shadows* (1999), and *Park Bench Confessions* (2002). Lehto’s vocal style within Icon of Coil was characterized by its operatic quality and range, frequently employing both clean singing and layered harmonies.
Following her departure from Icon of Coil, Lehto embarked on a solo career focusing on dark ambient and neoclassical darkwave music. Her debut solo album, *Of Desires and Dreams*, was released in 2006 on Dependent Records. Subsequent albums include *Secrets & Sins* (2008), *A Place Called Elsewhere* (2012), *Echoes From the Void* (2016) and *Lumikuningatar* (Snow Queen) in 2023.
Lehto’s solo work features instrumentation including piano, synthesizers, and orchestral arrangements, often incorporating themes of mythology, folklore, and introspection. She has collaborated with various artists within the darkwave scene, including Jan St. Werner of Mouse on Mars. Her music has been featured in several compilations released by Dependent Records and other labels specializing in gothic and electronic music.
