Experience Héctor Infanzón
Héctor Infanzón (born 1950, Rosario, Argentina) is a highly respected composer and performer central to the development of Argentine electronic music. Initially trained as a classical pianist at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Rosario, Infanzón shifted towards experimental and electronic soundscapes in the 1970s, heavily influenced by musique concrète and early synthesizers. He pioneered the use of computers for musical composition in Argentina, notably at the Centro de Experimentación del Sonido y la Música (CESyM) where he became director in 1986.
Infanzón’s style blends avant-garde techniques with elements of tango and folklore, creating a uniquely Argentinian electronic voice. His compositions often feature processed sounds of everyday life alongside synthesized textures and minimalist structures. Key works include *Tangos electrónicos* (1983), considered a landmark album, and numerous scores for theatre and dance.
He has received significant recognition including grants from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes and consistently lectures & conducts workshops internationally on electroacoustic music. Infanzón continues to compose and perform, remaining a vital figure in contemporary Argentine art music.
