Experience Heads South
Heads South emerged from the vibrant Nashville music scene in the mid-1970s, quickly becoming a cornerstone of the outlaw country movement. Originally formed around singer/songwriter Steve Leslie and guitarist/vocalist Lane Brody, the band blended honky-tonk tradition with a rock & roll edge. Their sound, characterized by tight harmonies, steel guitar, and relatable storytelling, resonated with audiences seeking an alternative to the polished "Nashville Sound."
Heads South achieved significant chart success with singles like “Fool for a Fool,” reaching #3 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart in 1978, and “You’re Gonna Love It When I’m Gone,” a top-ten hit. They released three albums – *Heads South* (1978), *So Fine* (1979), and *Hot Nights* (1980) – all contributing to their growing fanbase.
While the original lineup dissolved in the early 1980s, Lane Brody continued a successful solo career. Heads South briefly reformed in the late 1990s and again in recent years, demonstrating enduring appeal.
