Hamilton de Holanda is a highly acclaimed Brazilian musician, renowned for his virtuosic playing of the *bandolim* (Brazilian mandolin). Born in Brasília in 1965, de Holanda comes from a musical family – his father, Jacob de Holanda, was a celebrated *bandolim* player himself. He initially studied classical piano before dedicating himself to the *bandolim*, quickly establishing himself as a leading figure in *choro*, a complex and improvisational Brazilian instrumental genre.

De Holanda doesn’t limit himself to traditional *choro*; he masterfully blends it with elements of jazz, classical music, and regional Brazilian styles like *forró*. He's collaborated extensively with prominent artists including Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, and Yamandu Costa.

His discography includes critically lauded albums like “Brasília Mandolina” (1998) and “Singelo” (2003), earning him multiple Prêmio da Música Brasileira awards. Beyond performance and recording, de Holanda is dedicated to education, running workshops and promoting the *bandolim*’s place in contemporary music.
