Experience Grażyna Auguścik

Grażyna Auguścik (born 1956 in Kraków) is a highly respected Polish vocalist, composer, and arranger, pivotal in the development of Polish jazz and avant-garde music. Emerging in the 1970s, she initially gained prominence with the free-form jazz group Perfect, though quickly diverging towards more experimental vocal techniques.

Auguścik is renowned for her intensely personal and often theatrical vocal improvisations, incorporating extended vocal techniques – including multiphonics, ululation, and non-verbal sounds – alongside traditional singing. Her style blends jazz foundations with influences from world music, classical contemporary composition, and Polish folk traditions.

Throughout her career, she has collaborated with leading figures like Michał Urbaniak, Janusz Muniak, and Lester Bowie. She founded the groups Grażyna Auguścik & New Presentation and later Grażyna Auguścik Quartet. A significant achievement is her extensive discography including albums like *Dla ciebie* (1983) and *Road to Lhasa* (1996), showcasing her unique sonic explorations.
