Gli Angeli Genève is a Swiss vocal ensemble founded in 1984 by Jean-Claude Champion, specializing in historically informed performance of Renaissance and Baroque vocal polyphony. The group draws its name from the Italian phrase meaning "The Angels of Geneva." They are renowned for their pure, ethereal sound achieved through a commitment to original vocal techniques and instrumentation practices of the 15th-17th centuries.

Initially focusing on Franco-Flemish polyphony, Gli Angeli Genève’s repertoire expanded to encompass composers like Josquin Des Prez, Palestrina, Victoria, and Monteverdi. They’ve released over 30 recordings on labels including Harmonia Mundi, garnering critical acclaim for their interpretations – notably their complete works of Josquin Des Prez (a multi-year project completed in 2005) and numerous recordings dedicated to sacred music.

Champion's extensive research into vocal styles and historical performance practice forms the core of their artistic approach. Gli Angeli Genève regularly performs at major early music festivals internationally and maintains a strong dedication to both concert performance and studio recording, consistently praised for clarity, balance, and emotional depth. Their work significantly contributes to the revival & understanding of early vocal music.
