Born in 1988, he studied composition with László Sáry at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, and later pursued further studies with Unsuk Chin in Berlin.
Kesselyák’s compositions often explore the intersection of acoustic instruments, electronic processing, and spatial audio techniques. His style is characterized by detailed timbral exploration, complex rhythmic structures, and a focus on creating evocative sonic environments. He frequently utilizes extended techniques for piano and incorporates field recordings into his work.
Notable accomplishments include winning the Siemens Foundation Composition Prize (2017), receiving a residency at the Cité des Arts in Paris, and commissions from ensembles like the JACK Quartet and Klangforum Wien. His album *Ephemeral Maps* (NMC Recordings, 2023), featuring solo piano works, received critical acclaim for its delicate textures and atmospheric depth. Kesselyák actively performs as a pianist specializing in contemporary repertoire and presents his sound installations internationally at festivals such as Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and Unboxed Festival. He currently resides in Berlin.
