George Kahn (born July 26, 1947) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and musician best known for his one-hit wonder, "Lady Midnight" (1975). Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Kahn began his musical journey playing in local bands before relocating to Los Angeles in the early 1970s. He signed with Mega Records and released his self-titled debut album in 1975, which featured “Lady Midnight,” a sophisticated soft rock ballad heavily influenced by the yacht rock sound.
The song reached #1 in Canada and peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, earning him a Gold record certification. Despite its success, Kahn struggled to replicate this chart performance with subsequent releases. He continued writing and performing, releasing albums throughout the 80s and 90s including *Skyline* (1981) and *Heart of Stone* (1988).
Kahn’s style blends elements of pop, rock, and jazz, characterized by smooth vocals and melodic arrangements.
