George Johnson (born February 22, 1953) is an American jazz guitarist and composer, renowned for his distinctive fingerstyle technique and harmonic sophistication. He rose to prominence in the late 1970s as a founding member of the influential acoustic jazz trio, The George Johnson Trio, alongside bassist Eliot Zigmund and drummer Steve Weisberg.

Johnson’s style blends elements of Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, and Brazilian music, particularly bossa nova, resulting in a warm, lyrical sound characterized by complex chord voicings and melodic improvisation. He avoids using a pick, achieving a remarkably clean and articulate tone solely through his fingers.

Throughout his career, Johnson has released numerous albums as a leader, including *Gentle Sounds* (1979), *Duo* with Gene Bertoncini (1988), and *Remembering Wes* (1994), a tribute to his major influence. He's also collaborated extensively with artists like David Liebman and Lee Konitz.
