Experience George Jackson

George Jackson (born January 19, 1941, in New Orleans, Louisiana; died November 20, 2023) was an American jazz and blues pianist, vocalist, and composer renowned for his deeply rooted New Orleans style. He began his professional career in the late 1950s, performing with legends like Professor Longhair and Fats Domino, absorbing their influences while developing his own distinctive sound.

Jackson spent several decades largely outside the mainstream spotlight, working as a sideman and maintaining a dedicated local following in New Orleans. He gained wider recognition in the 1990s with albums like *Blue Rhapsody* (1993) and *Live at Tipitina’s* (1996), showcasing his boogie-woogie piano playing, soulful vocals, and songwriting ability. His style blended traditional New Orleans rhythm & blues with elements of jazz improvisation.

Throughout his career, Jackson received numerous accolades including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in 2018. He was celebrated for preserving and revitalizing the classic New Orleans piano tradition. His music continues to be appreciated for its authenticity and energetic performances.
