George Bone is a British jazz trombone player, composer, and arranger rapidly gaining recognition for his unique voice within contemporary jazz. Initially studying classical trombone, Bone transitioned to jazz, becoming a prominent figure in the London scene while still a student at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. He’s known for a distinctive sound blending hard-bop influences with elements of free improvisation and a strong melodic sensibility.

Bone leads his own quartet, featuring consistently acclaimed albums like “Bonescape” (2019) and “Seeker” (2023), both released on Whirlwind Recordings. These projects showcase his compositions, often characterized by intricate arrangements and dynamic interplay between musicians. He has collaborated with artists including Soweto Kinch, Nubya Garcia, and Mark Armstrong, demonstrating versatility across diverse ensembles.

Beyond leading his quartet, Bone is an active sideman and arranger for other leading UK jazz figures. He received the 2020 Parliamentary Jazz Newcomer Award acknowledging his rising prominence and contribution to the genre. His playing emphasizes lyrical phrasing alongside technical prowess, earning him praise from critics for both innovation and respect for jazz tradition.
