Experience Garaj Mahal
Garaj Mahal is a Los Angeles-based instrumental band formed in 1998, renowned for their unique fusion of jazz, funk, Indian classical music, and electronica. Originally a quartet featuring Eric Krasno (Soulive), Marc Brownstein (The Disco Biscuits), Aaron Magner (The Disco Biscuits), and Ben Perowsky, the lineup has evolved over the years but consistently maintained a high level of improvisation and musicianship.
Their self-titled debut album (2001) established their signature sound – complex compositions built on driving grooves and virtuosic playing. Subsequent releases like *In The Moment* (2003) and *White Knuckle Ride* (2005) further explored this territory, incorporating elements of drum & bass and psychedelic rock.
Garaj Mahal gained a dedicated following through extensive touring, sharing stages with diverse acts like Medeski Martin & Wood and Umphrey’s McGee. While periods of inactivity have occurred throughout their history, they’ve consistently reunited for performances, demonstrating enduring appeal within the jam band and improvisational music scenes.
