Friend 'n Fellow is the electronic music project of Brooklyn-based producer and multi-instrumentalist, Joshua Ketchmark. Emerging in the early 2010s, Ketchmark initially gained recognition for his remixes of artists like Toro y Moi and Washed Out, establishing a signature style blending vaporwave aesthetics with soulful, sample-based production.
His debut album, *Hyperreal*, released in 2014 on Mush Records, cemented this sound – characterized by slowed tempos, nostalgic samples (often drawing from 80s & 90s commercial music), and a distinctly lo-fi quality. Subsequent releases like *Sand Between My Toes* (2016) and *Department of Distraction* (2019) continued to refine this approach, incorporating elements of funk and boogie while maintaining a dreamlike atmosphere.
Ketchmark’s work has been featured in publications like Pitchfork and Resident Advisor. He's toured extensively supporting artists such as Com Truise and Tycho, bringing his immersive live show – often incorporating visual elements – to audiences worldwide.
