Experience François-Xavier Roth
François-Xavier Roth is a highly respected French conductor renowned for his dynamic interpretations and commitment to historically informed performance practice. Born in 1971, he initially gained prominence as a violinist, studying with Gérard Jarry. He founded Les Siècles in 1995, an orchestra uniquely dedicated to performing music on the instruments for which it was originally written – meticulously researching and reconstructing historical orchestral setups.
Roth’s repertoire is exceptionally broad, spanning from Baroque to contemporary works, but he’s particularly celebrated for his performances of French composers like Berlioz, Debussy, and Ravel. He served as Music Director of the SWR Symphonieorchester in Germany (2016-2023), garnering acclaim for innovative concert programming and a focus on audience engagement.
He’s a frequent guest conductor with leading orchestras worldwide including the Concertgebouw Orchestra, Vienna Symphony, and London Symphony Orchestra. Notable recordings include critically lauded cycles of Berlioz’s *Symphonie Fantastique* using original instrumentation and numerous operatic productions.
