Francesca Confortini is an Italian-American pianist, composer, and improviser renowned for a strikingly individual approach to jazz and contemporary classical music. Born in Rome, she moved to the US to pursue formal studies at New England Conservatory and Boston University, earning a Doctorate of Musical Arts. Confortini’s career encompasses performance as a soloist and collaborator with diverse ensembles including her long-standing trio with bassist Carlo Battisti and drummer Roberto Gatto.

Her compositional style blends intricate harmonic structures, rhythmic complexity inspired by Italian folk traditions, and a deeply expressive melodic sensibility. She frequently incorporates extended techniques on the piano, exploring its percussive and textural possibilities.

Confortini has released several critically acclaimed albums on labels like Splasc(h) Records – including “Upon” (2016) featuring original compositions – and received numerous awards for her work, including grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and residencies at prestigious institutions. She's also actively involved in music education, holding teaching positions at universities and leading workshops internationally.
