Fostina Dixon (1920-2015) was an American gospel singer, deeply rooted in the rich tradition of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). Born in Sebastopol, Mississippi, she began singing publicly at age five and quickly became a prominent figure within the denomination, known for her powerful contralto voice and emotionally charged performances. While largely remaining outside mainstream commercial recognition during her lifetime, Dixon was a foundational influence on contemporary gospel and soul music.

Her style blended traditional COGIC singing – characterized by improvisation, call-and-response, and fervent delivery – with a unique phrasing that anticipated elements later popularized by artists like Mahalia Jackson and Shirley Caesar.
