Born in 1976, he studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and later with renowned pianist Dmitri Bashkirov at the Reina Sofia School in Madrid. Collins rose to international prominence winning the Gold Medal at the 1999 International Piano Competition in Dublin and becoming a British Council Young Concert Artist.
