Experience Eva Plankton
Eva Plankton (born Eva Papamargariti in Thessaloniki, Greece, 1977) is a Greek-born, Berlin-based electronic musician and vocalist. Emerging in the late 1990s within the burgeoning IDM and glitch scenes, Plankton initially gained recognition for her work with the Raster-Noton label (now known as Raster). Her early releases, like *Delirium* (2003) and *Orange* (2005), established a signature sound characterized by fragmented vocals, meticulously crafted digital textures, and a deconstructionist approach to pop sensibilities.
Plankton’s style blends elements of electronica, glitch, minimal techno, and avant-garde vocal performance. She frequently utilizes heavily processed field recordings and explores themes of communication breakdown and digital alienation. Beyond solo work, she has collaborated with artists like Ryuichi Sakamoto and Janek Schaefers (Monolake).
Her album *On Pleasure Island* (2018) received critical acclaim for its more melodic yet still experimental direction. Plankton's work has been exhibited at institutions like the Centre Pompidou and her compositions are frequently used in contemporary dance and performance art.
